Could your Farm be a Century Farm?
The Tennessee Century Farms program honors family farmers who have kept continuously-owned family land in agricultural production for at least the last 100 years. Established by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture in 1975-1976 as a special bicentennial project, the program initially identified approximately 600 farm families. This group received a colorful metal sign to place by the roadside, identifying for travelers and neighbors their distinctive place in the state’s history. Many of these signs remain in place today.
